ovary problems??

Hi To all in here, hiding from the snow!

I just wondered if anyone else on Tam has had aching and swollen ovary?
It has ached now for 4 or 5 days and is a palpable lump, I know I attribute EVERYTHING to tam, but these feels odd. Could it be ovulation, does anyone else ever feel themselves ovulating? I want to see doc tomorrow but at 42 am becoming a sad little regular in his waiting room!

What should I do…yes I hhave read about the link between tam and ovarian cysts in premenopausel women… i do too much research methinks…

Any advice out there!

Hi Claire,

I havent had anything like that since starting on tamoxifen (Jan this year) but I am on zoladex so am not ovulating at all. I did used to get it mid way through my cycle(pre BC and zoladex menopause days I’m 39) on day 14 and and aching dragging pain down my leg. My doc realised in the end as it was happening on alternate side each month it was my overy spitting out an egg (not a nice description I know but the best way I could describe it)
Check your cycle dates it could be to do with that? Good luck Hun its a bugger isnt it all these side effects I wonder if its going to be like this for the next 5 years or will we just get used to thinking every ache is the tamoxifen.

Yes Claire,

About two weeks after my period - which appears to now be slowing down - I have a pain which I can only describe as an ovulation pain.
It can last a couple of hours, or a couple of days.

I don’t feel any actual lump or anything, just the pain.

I spoke to my doctor about it and they sent me for a scan, all they could find were fibroids, which they don’t really want to do anything about at the minute.

I’ve been on Tamox since July of last year and the pain only started about four months after starting.

It might be worth you having a chat to your GP.

Hope you are sorted soon.

Linda xx
