Hi,
No answers I’m afraid, but have been wondering the same. Did contact BUPA but that was a negative, not sure about these other schemes. If you find out I’d be intertested!

Hi hazelnut,
I contacted a major life insurance company after i was DX wih BC in 2007 as i didnt have any insurance pre BC ,(i was 47 at DX) when i rang the company (after being refused by many others)i told them i had breast cancer and they just told me to wait untill i was in my 49thyr and then i could get the over 50s gaurenteed plan (no health questions asked or medicals) so thats what i did!
I dont have secondries, but the guarenteed plan doesnt need medicals ect as is guarenteed. Like all insurances it only pays out the full sum after 2 yrs and 1+1/2 x of the premiums before 2 yrs.
Not sure if this helps,
Linda

Hi - I wss diagnosed in August and took out an over 60’s plan in October with no medical questions. The sums assured are not brilliant but will give life cover or funeral expenses. After about 6 years - if all clear you will be able to get normal terms from life companies again so it may only be short term cover.

Most over 50’s plans will require you to keep paying for 2 years before they pay out but LV only require you to pay for 1 year and you can ask to pay sum to the funeral service and this increases the sum assured by about 20%. If all money is not used by the funeral it is paid back to the beneficiaries.

So it may be as well to shop around - I think Asda may also do 1 year but I am not sure.

Hi ladies,
Many thanks for that, have had mail from the Halifax offering £5,460 life cover at £20 p month, if I take a policy out before my 60 birthday in March…If I die in first 2 years ( other than by accident) they refund payments already made. Semmed a little better than LV or Asda, no gift for joining though.
I’m 2 years with sec.lungs, primary DX 1993, so am hoping at least to plod on a while yet!!!
Thanks for comments everyone.

Hi hazelnut ,
I took out a plan with “Sun Life” the premiuns are pretty good too, they obviously vary on age and the amount you want to be insured for though, I also got a choice of free gifts too so i chose a Flat Screen Tv for the bedroom lol .
Also thought it would be wise to take out a plan for my OH at the same time too, so got another Flat screen TV for other bedroom!
Think if i remember correctly i also got a free Parker Pen just for inquiring.
Sun Life also let you transfer some of the plan to a funeral plan too, think its with the Co Op.

Heh,
that looks a good deal… 2 flat screens for free!!! having just spent morning watching DVD in bed and having to get up to adjust scart link ( My cat walks on it to get to her window bed!!!)
I do feel better having put something else in place. Continue to tidy up my house/life.
Thanks
