Hi Everyone,
I lived in middle east due to my husband’s job when I was diagnosed with BC in Feb 2023 at the age of 46 & received treatment straightaway. I had a lumpectomy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy - zolodex & letrozole. I went into instant menopause with zolodex and have really struggled with the side effects - very intense hot flushes/night sweats, lack of sleep at night, stiff joints to name a few. I also gained around 7-8KGs just in few months. I have been very fit & healthy with no underlying health issues or any family history of cancer.
After struggling for months on hormone therapy and constant weight gain despite very clean eating and exercise, one of my doctor suggested Ozempic to get the weight down & try for few months. After struggling so much I decided to start the injection on the min dose in Feb this year & atleast loose the additional weight.
To my surprise not only I lost 3-4KGs just in 2 months (carried on my clean eating & exercise) but more importantly my side effects have completely vanished. Almost no hot flushes/night sweats, full night sleep, no more joint pain.
My question to this group is if anyone has experienced this? or any research done on this combination?
Thanks!
Hi
I used Saxenda privately last year and lost 3 stone in 5 months its an incredible drug. I also noticed my usual joint pains vanished, I’m menopausal. Had to stop using it as supplies in the UK ran out in September and then in November i was diagnosed with BC. I’m now 2 stone up, I am an emotional eater and I’m post lumpectomy and radio. I’ve just had Mounjaro delivered I get this through a private doctor and was upfront about my BC and they were happy to allow me to have this. I’m not going to take an AI for personal reasons. I’m hoping to lose the weight and a bit more and that the joint pain eases off again. Its hard when you can no longer have oestrogen to manage the menopause symptoms. I also found i didn’t want to drink alcohol on saxenda another side effect.
Hi ck72, thanks for sharing your experience. I lost sugar cravings & don’t drink as much coffee as I used to as a side effect. But I am so happy with my menopause side effects relief!
