Maybe they can change you to weekly as it’s a smaller dose and then you won’t need injections
I’ll see what is said. I definitely feel like I can’t do this another 3 times
That’s how I feel about EC!
I know, poor you. You’ve had a really tough time on it.
Just think how amazing it’s going to feel when we are all finished ![]()
Yes!!! ![]()
@lauzloo I haven’t had surgery yet either and am on the dose dense regime. My oncologist told me she would reduce the dose if the bone pain was too much. Luckily? I can manage it with regular painkillers so she hasn’t reduced it. She did reduce the injections to 5 though as my neutrophils were higher than 1.5.
Ah ok. That’s really good to know.
Thank you x
The reduced dose made a big difference. I’ve been taking back to back paracetamol and brufen and keeping an eye on my temperature ofcourse, I started taking painkillers on day two to get ahead of the game!
It’s scary isn’t it as once it’s in, it’s in and then you lose control of the situation.
Hi Indigo2
I have just finished my 3 three weekly cycles of EC where I had 5 days of self injections after each chemo. I’m about to start 12 weeks of Paclitaxel and my oncologist has told me that I will still have to have the injections but for 3 days rather than 5. Hope this helps, Good luck x
Thank you @lilcock
It still after all these months amazes me how different regimes are. We ofcourse are all unique! (Including our oncologists!)
Have a lovely weekend and all the best for your treatment ![]()
@indigo2 - I finished nab paclitaxel in Feb , I was supposed to be having weekly pax but was changed to albumin bound paclitaxel
3 weekly - I didn’t have the injections thank goodness as the pax gave me some fairly horrific bone pain from days 3-7… I dont think I could have coped with added on bone pain .
Interestingly my neuts hovered around 3.5-4.5 which is incredible given my pre chemo neuts were always below three !

Hi there @arty1
Have been wondering how you’ve been doing.![]()
I must admit I was worried at my neuts dropping without the jabs but they’ve stayed at about 1.5 and my Hb level too.
All the best with your ongoing treatment. ![]()
I’m starting weekly pac after my 3rd EC next week. The oncologist said I won’t need injections on pac.
Bonus!!! Just means been a bit more wary of crowd mixing. Although I hated them I couldn’t get over how much the jabs boosted your immunity.
Good luck with your next phase.

Oh I’d better be careful then as I’ve got them for 12 weeks. Fortunately it’s summer time so I’ll be careful mixing indoors
12 weeks is a lot but it’s a much kinder amount than dense dosing like I had so I’m sure you’ll be fine. Paracetamol and brufen will be your friends and I have had no nausea at all unlike EC. ![]()
Hi, Lauzloo. I had dreadful bone pain with the filgrastim injections and morphine didn’t touch it. Loratidine 10mg tabs (antihistamine) were suggested because histamine is released during filgrastim treatment and causes the horrible pain, particularly in the sternum, hips, sacrum. I took one tablet daily 2-3 days before the filgrastim and continued taking it the day of and 3 days afterwards. It didn’t stop the pain completely but it helped immensely. My oncologist hadn’t heard of taking it for this purpose but was more than happy for me to keep taking it. The brand name is Clarityn, but loratidine is exactly the same and is much cheaper. I hope you get some relief.
Thank you. It does feel a lot but hopefully they’ll go quick and I’ll be crossing them off x
They are prescribed Clarityn (Loratidine) continuously in the US. My oncology nurse suggested it too. I’ve taken it all the way through.
I’ve stopped it now that the jabs have finished ofcourse but I’m now on Piriton and Fexofenadine as I have a very itchy face with the Paclitaxel. My body is clearly not impressed with it at all. There’s always something ![]()
@indigo2 - I’m
Currently on Herceptin which is bringing its own challenges for me as I’m allergic to it ![]()
I managed to avoid picking up anything unpleasant despite chemo being in the depths of winter and the teenager bringing home two vile colds !
hopefully your neuts will stay at that level and you can see through the pax without anymore of the dreaded injections !
