Has anyone else had this combination of chemo to shrink a larger TN lump? I’ve read that taxol is used for this purpose but others seem to have been offered docetaxol…just wondering what the difference is…if any.
Thanks
Steval

…and has it been effective?!
Thanks everyone
Hi,
Yes I’ve just had my first session of paclitaxel and carboplatin for TNBC. I have 1 lump and no nodes or lymph involvement, but potential braca1. I had initially hoped to have immediate surgery before chemo treatment but final mri scans showed lump was bigger than first seen on ultrasound so recommended to have chemo upfront. Either way the suggested plan was always paclitaxel and carboplatin from day one, docatxel wasnt mentioned and i havent looked into it. I also have a friend who just completed same pacli/carbo chemo for Tnbc. I guess there could be slight differences in standard care treatment offered depending where you are. My friend and I are both in Liverpool so attend the new clatterbridge Centre there. Where about are you? Have you started treatment yet?
Xx
Hi Steval,
just thought it might help to share my story as someone who has recently had that regime of chemo. Diagnosed tnbc Feb this year. 3.3cm tumour. Had the 12 weeks of paclitaxel with carboplatin every 3 weeks. Then had 4 cycles of EC every two weeks. Just a note too - I missed week 7 and week 12 of paclitaxel. Then had mammoplasty and sentinel node biopsy. Went to get dressings off a week after surgery only to be told that I’d had a complete pathologic response - so no evidence of cancer in breast or nodes. So that combo of drugs worked for me.
wishing you the very best with your treatment xx
