Paclotaxol Day 18- Medical marvel??

Hi, I’m just wondering whether anyone could help me. I’m day 18 on paclotaxol, had 3 weekly doses. I’ve been wearing the cold cap but am still anticipating my hair to fall out in places. As yet…Nothing. I feel like I’m awaiting the inevitable, what day should I be expecting it to happen??? Big love to all my breast cancer warriors :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Hi Buttercup 2020,

Hi buttercup

My hair started to slide out by the second EC treatment so I got a no 6 buzzcut. I was told in no uncertain terms ‘You WILL lose your hair with paclitaxel, by the second dose.’ Partly right - nose, face, lashes, pubes - all bald as a coot and with practical consequences - but I kept my buzzcut to the end without cold-capping. It was sparse but it was mine. I think maybe I needed to prove him wrong on something.

The best bit was regrowth. It was so soft and comforting to stroke, it made it all worthwhile  If you lose it, it’s not for long in the grand scheme of things. Avoid rubbing when you wash it, wash it only when you must and just smooth conditioner on; no brushing or blow-drying - and wear a chemo-cap at night cos it gets nippy. Good luck x

So glad it’s going well so far and I really hope that continues for you.

My first course of chemo was FEC chemo, 3 x 3 weekly courses and lost my hair after the first one.

I was then put on weekly paclitaxel. After the first couple I noticed my hair was growing back but everyone told me that it would fall out again. It didn’t! My hair continued to grow through the rest of my chemotherapy. I just finished in January but my hair is growing in nicely. I stopped wearing head scarves a couple of weeks ago.

Hope that helps and I wish you all the best with your treatment ?
