I had two lumpectomies followed by a mastectomy 1 and a half years ago. I still have pain where the breast was taken and under the arm where two lymph nodes were taken. I also have excess skin under the arm which is uncomfortable. I would be interested to know if anyone else still has pain one and a half years on or am I worrying for nothing. my name is Sue and I should say I am 70. I read these posts often and it is so interesting to see what other people are going through.
Hello Sue,
Welcome to the forum, we are all here for you.
Breast pain is the most common topic, most people speak about, I’m sorry you’re feeling so uncomfortable maybe give your breast cancer nurse a call at the hospital where you were treated just to get checked out to make sure all is well. I am five years down the line and still have pain I’m sorry to have to say.
Also the breast cancer nurses on this site are extremely helpful and very knowledgeable so you could give them a call for a chat to put your mind at rest.
Wishing you well going forward, post again and let us know how your getting on.
Enjoy Christmas with hugs Tili
Thank you so much Tilli. I will do.
Hello Sue. I had a single mastectomy and 4 lymph nodes removed in April last year. I still get the occasional sort of shooting pain but not often. I am still tender over the whole area. I am not endowed with much flesh (!) so its tender when I touch the area, a sort of bruised feeling but I think its bone rather than anything else. I am older than you, I am 84 going on 74 ! My name is Heather and I wish you well.
Hello Sue, I had a single mastectomy and 4 nodes taken 3 yrs ago this month and yes I still get pain. My pain feels more like nerve pain. I have a large dog ear of skin under my arm and sometimes it’s difficult to put on my bra so my husband has to help… I am 68 yrs old And just deal with the pain with paracetamol. I am on letrozole and still get the side effects of taking it, thinning hair, joint pain, night sweats etc. anyway I think if you are worried about your pain I would ring your bcn and talk with her so she can put your mind at rest. Take care and have a lovely Christmas x
