Pain and discomfort persists

I had a lymph node biopsy and a lumpectomy in May and then radiotherapy in September and coped with it all really well. I didn’t have too much discomfort and my skin held up well during the radiotherapy. I am now getting consistent minor pain and discomfort and some numbness in my breast, arm pit and arm on the treatment side. It does not seem to be reducing at all and although it is not debilitating, is causing me some problems. I understand that this does sometime happen due to nerve damage.

Has anyone else had this problem? How long did it last? How did you deal with it?

Hi Lucy I had mascectomy and lymph clearance last December and I still feel uncomfortable and numb and also have odd twinges. Always worrying about it but onc says it’s ok love Eileen

Hello LynnW

I had a WLE and axillary clearance last December. I still intermittently have pain and discomfort in my breast and under my arm and also numbness under my arm. Sometimes the pain is quite sharp. The surgeon says it’s normal to feel this for a year at least and not to worry about it.
Take care
