Does anyone know what could be causing pain between my shoulder blades(feels like I’ve been thumped) so I feel winded… I have pain directly through to my sternum from this which feels like somethings stuck in my wind pipe…
I finished Rads in Oct and had to stop Herceptin in Nov due to decreased heart LVEF. The pain started around the same time as this happened and I just assumed it was a bit of chest pain related to the heart trouble, It did seem to get better but now it has returned…I am due another Muga scan next week and I am hoping my LVEF is up on last time. I will mention symptoms to Onc in a fortnight…I’m not sure if it could be damage from radiotherapy? Just wondered if anyone else has had lingering symptoms like this after treatment?
Hi FEemac
Sorry to hear about your pain. I just thought I’d let you know that I’ve had what I believe to be severe indigestion which felt like terrible pain like you’ve described and also like something stuck in my windpipe too. I thought I’d pulled something and kept stretching to allieviate but nothing worked. I know that certain foods can set if off, probably rich or fatty. I’m not saying that’s what you’ve got but I know the pain was terrible and I had it all night one night and couldn’t sleep. Hope that it gets sorted but in the meantime maybe try some over the counter indigestion like Gaviscon and see if that helps at all.
Hi Fiona
I’ve a similar kind of pain accross my shoulder blades especially on the side I had Radiotherapy. Like you I finished mid October. I spoke to the physio who suggested it was probably from the rads as part of the muscle that stabilizes the shoulder blade is affected. It is getting easier as I keep doing all the stretching exercises so will give it a bit longer. I know from broken bones that it can take up to 6 months before everything sorts itself out. But if you have had heart problems then do mention it.
Good luck
Margaret
I mentioned all my side effects to my oncologist last week and he said he didn’t know what could be causing it…The cardiologist said it wasn’t from the heart. My onc also said it was too soon to be caused by radiotherapy… He told me to wait 6-8weeks and if it hadn’t settled down then I was to go to my GP…and a referal for tests would be given…I came home and decided to try some omeprazole daily to see what happened. Well the side effects have gone, so I’m assuming that it’s coming from my stomach…such a strange pain, but there you go! I’m wondering now if Tamoxifen is upsetting my stomach in some way or else the chemo has had something to do with it.
