Hi, I’m useless with all the technical jargon sorry if I don’t use the right terminology. I had bilateral reconstruction in Feb '10 and had adjustable implants put in as well as muscles from my back.Pretty much from the beginning I have been able to feel the little port on my left side just under my breast where my bra should lie. It has recently become quite painful and uncomfortable and just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar?
I have an appointment with my consultant on Tuesday so will discuss it with him but just wondered if anyone had similar experience and what they had been able to do if anything. As the pain seems to be getting worse I am keen for them to do something but the thought of more surgery is depressing. I assume that it is just needing adjusted as my right one is fine, I can’t feel it at all so presume it is in a better position.
I think my biggest concern is that the painful lump turns out not to be the port on the implant but something more sinister…
Fingers crossed.

Hi, I also have a port on my right side which lies in JUST the place where the bra sits. (Male surgeon obviously!) It is a hard lump and sometimes causes pain although generally it is just uncomfortable and a nuisance. I had mine done mid February and I must admit that I am getting more used to it and it doesn’t bother me quite as much as it did. You could try a wodge of cotton wool under the bra band which I find sometimes helps. I too though was concerned and spoke to my consultant about it. He confirmed that it was only the port and nothing else and basically told me I’d have to live with it until it is removed. Mine will be removed after the final saline adjustment. (More surgery and another scar - hurray!!)
Sorry if that wasn’t what you wanted to hear. I would definitely speak to your consultant though to put your mind at rest and find out when you might be able to get rid of it. Knowing there is a timescale helps.
regards
Val
Hiya - my post is pretty much a replica of Val’s. Port on the left, exactly on bra line - sometimes more uncomfortable than others and yes getting more used to it. Like Val too - nothing will be done with it until the next op. i think the only thing to do is to look hard at the underwear situ to find something that doesn’t hurt - not something i’ve actually done yet.
i genuinely wouldn’t worry about it being anything other than the port.

Thanks for your posts ladies. It’s good to know I am not alone, although sorry that there are others in pain! I will speak to my consultant on Tuesday as I am seeing him anyway. I’m not due any more treatment but hopefully they will be able to take me in and sort it out. Fingers crossed!

Hi,well I saw my plastic surgeon on Tuesday and he is going to remove the port from my left side and whilst I’m under he is going to do a little liposuction under my arms. So it’s all good really, just have to wait for a date now. At least it’s only a little op, in and out in a day, hopefully.
