I had a LD reconstruction about 6 years ago and apart from the odd twinge now and then it has been fine. However recently it feels as if I have pulled a muscle. It does not hurt all the time but when I breathe in, twist my body or raise my arm it causes pain in the breast itself. I can’t remember doing anything but it feels like a pulled muscle and is very uncomfortable. I have had it now for over a week and it is not getting easier.
Anyone else experienced a similar pain? I worry for England so any pain associated with my real breast and the reconstructed one cause me anxiety and my thoughts race ahead to everything happening all over again.
Thanks for being there and listening -

Hi abcde
Does your LD recon include an implant? If so, does it feel any different - possibly a bit firmer than it was? If it does, it could be some capsular contraction. If it is, and it continues to cause you problems, it can be sorted.
The best thing would be to see your plastic or breast surgeon and get their advice.
I agree with DJ007 but also wonder if you have pulled a muscle or perhaps cracked a rib. Either way they you can easily be checked out with examination and an xray. It may not need anything but rest but no use worrying about it. You are obviously concerned so get it looked at and let us know how it goes. By the way I had my LD flap with implant done 22 years or so ago and it is still looking good! All the best, from Val
Hi abcde, I’ve just read your post from August and wondered if you got the pain looked at or if it went away. I’m having the same thing where I thought I had possibly pulled a muscle but didn’t know how I could have. I had LD with expander 5 years ago but implant still feels same.
