pain in all long bones 3 months after FEC. normal?

hello ladies.
here i am again worried, and find myself asking for your reassurance and advice about my current concern.

I finished FEC end of august 09. (primary treatment. i’m 33) i am having (and have been having for a while)aches in the long bones of my body. mostly both my shins and thighs, and less frequently in my forearms.

the pain feels similar to a very mild version of the pains i had when i had the GCSF jabs during chemo.

has anyone else had anything similar this long after chemo?

mmm… i know i only posted this last night so still early for any replies, but so far i guess it’s not that common!

Hello redcell

No I haven’t had this, I had bone pain during my EC chemo treatment, but not after.

I think it is a case of wait and see, the guidance I was given by my onc is if you have an unexplained pain that lasts more than two weeks then it is worth getting medical advice. It seems horrid that we should always have to be on the alert and I guess we need to find a way to move on with our lives whilst monitoring any symptoms. I am a year ahead of you in terms of dx, I had a recent liver scare, thankfully the scan came back Ok but I do understand how scary it all is.

Take care

Louise

louise, thanks for your advice. i’m pleased that your recent scare turned out to be ok, you must have felt so relieved.

i know i should be talking to my onc, i just feel like such a hypochondriac every time i see her!! before BC i was never ill… i never had a days sick leave in ten years!

the thing with these pains is that they occur in all my long bones, not just one area. i’m trying to tell myself that if it were mets then it wouldn’t be everywhere this quickly surely! ? or is that just wishful thinking…?
is there anyone else who has experienced anything similar?

It might be worth posting in the secondaries room, redcell, there are quite a few ladies there with bone mets. I know that the BCC leaflet says that pains in joints and bones which are mets tend to get worse at night. Are you having Taxoxifen or similar? I know a lot of ladies complain about joint pain…it gives me pains in my finger joints and ankles and taking rose hip every day has helped.

Have you got a decent BCN you could ring for a chat?
