Pain in bone on hand - anything to worry about?

Hi

For around 5 weeks I have had pain in the bone at the base of my left index finger (diagnosed left side IDC in June 2023).

It feels like I’ve banged it or it should be bruised but I haven’t.

Is this a very unlikely place for cancer to come back? I have emailed my oncologist but have not had a response yet.

I had WLE, FECx6, radiotherapy, herceptin and have been on tamoxifen since November 2023. I also tried zoladex August 2024 to November 2024.

Thanks

Hi @lanna19,

Thank you for your post.

It is understandable you ask if you should be worried about the pain in your left finger.

It is difficult to say what may have caused this pain. Hormone therapies can cause some joint pain, although this is less common with tamoxifen.

You may find it helpful to note how often you are experiencing this pain and if there are any activities you undergo which may bring it on.

Whilst you are awaiting to hear back from your oncologist, you could also contact your GP to discuss the pain with them as it may be unrelated to your breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
