Hi all
I am currently on my 5th round of chemo but the last month or so i have been having pains in and around my breast near to the scar . I had a lumpectomy then node removal . I mentioned it to my trial nurse and she jotted it down for the doctor but she said nothing. My scar also has a lump exactly where the lump was before and thats where the pain emits from. Should i ask to get it examined or am i being a bit anxious.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks
jackie

If worried and in doubt insist on getting it examined - its the only way you will put ur mind at rest.

Hi Jackie, i agree with Fiona, you really need it looked at, chances are its just the scar tissue, but you really do not need to be having any further worries

I had chemo prior to surgery and had shooting pains in my tumour throughout chemo. I was told it was just the chemo doing its job and killing off cells.
I had my lumpectomy in February, followed by rads, and now have a hard lump that looks and feels like an exact replica of the tumour. I had an ultrasound and it showed ‘fat necrosis’ (literal translation fat death!) but I think it is just another term for scar tissue.
I agree with the others that you should have it checked out just to put your mind at rest.

Hello Jackie
I had a lumpectomy, node clearance, chemo and rads. I had sharp shooting pains in my breast throughout chemo and also had (and still have) a lumpy patch right under the scar on my breast. My oncologist said the pains were the nerves waking up after the surgery and that the lumpy patch was scar tissue. I waited until rads was finished to have an ultrasound and it was confirmed that the lump is scar tissue. The surgeon said it is quite usual to have pains in the breast for up to a year after surgery.
However, you are obviously worrying about this so you must get it checked out just in case and to put your mind at rest. Let us know what happens.
Take care
Love Anthi
