Pain in breast
Pain in breast Hiya, feel a bit daft asking this but I finished my radiotherapy in January and am taking Tamoxifen, I have recently developed a bad pain behind my nipple on my affected breast and my nipple has got like a scab on, also I have pain in my collarbone when moving my neck, has anyone else had any of this?? I am getting used to the aches and pains in my joints but this is totally unfamiliar, don’t want to be a twine but am quite scared by this, I would really appreciate if anyone has any advise or has suffered cos I am a proper worry guts,
Thanx in advance, Rowlaine
please ask for help Hello Rowlaine
I’m sorry, I can’t give you any advice except to say please ring your breast care nurse and explain your problem to her. Or go to your GP and get him to contact hospital for you - either for advice or re an appointment. No one will think you are being silly. You will keep on being anxious until you get it sorted, and anxious is not good for anyone.
Take care, and let us know how you get on.
Pain I have had this pain also. I finished rads in July and had a scab on my nipple which has now fallen off. My skin looks completely different.
I have not seen my dr yet but will ask him. I have an appointment on 30th August. Will keep you posted if I hear anything before that.
timetraveller Hi,
I did ring my breast care nurse but unfortunately she is on hols till 17th August, went to docs last Friday, he was quite concerned and called my breast surgeon and left a message with his secretary, so far heard nothing, bit dubious going to see Surgeon’s registrar as at last appointment I tried to ask him if aches and pains I was getting were because of Tamoxifen and he told me to stop looking for things to be wrong, so I have been putting this off hoping it will go away but the pain is getting quite sore now, cannot lay on tummy when I turn in my sleep it wakes me up, sorry for going on and being a pain but it is worrying, thankyou for your reply I have been feeling quite sorry for myself and alone.
Marciem Hi Marcie,
thanks for reply, I am now waiting to hear from the hospital my GP contacted them last Friday but so far nothing, really anxious going to see the registrar as last time I saw him he told me to stop looking for things to be wrong when I asked his advice on aches and pains I was having and could it be the Tamoxifen!! I was totally humiliated and embarrassed, frightened to ask him anything let alone examine me when I am this sore, I was hoping it would just go away but no such luck, the scab does not want to come off and the pain behind my nipple wakes me up when I move onto it now, my GP was really good though, I will just have to wait and see, let me know how you are too and thankyou again for reply, you begin to feel really alienated at times.
For Timetraveller and MarcieM Hi to you both,
I am still quite new at this, not got the hang of it yet, I don’t know if I replied properly before on my old post, anyway I have replied to you both on there and updated you both on things to date, just wanted to say thankyou for your advice, and feel lots better getting reply and knowing not alone, thanks, Rowlaine x
Pain Please do not let drs or other medical staff “put you off”. You have a genuine pain that needs attention and you should get it. It should also be explained to you why you are having this pain, whether it is caused by medication or the rads.
I have found that this site has been very useful with our “ailments”.
I will let you know how I get on.
Rowlaine, I had a useless onc and moaned at the Macmillan Nurse who said next time you go to the clinic tell lady at reception that you WILL NOT see him again. Knees knocked etc but it went off quietly and worked- got a good onc and things began to move. Registrars are a variable breed- some very bright, dedicated young people and inevitably a few duds. They all move on quite fast- good to lose a bad one, sad to lose a good one, dilly
Dilly Thanks Dilly, I appreciate that, I am at the hospital this morning so I am going to mention to them, hubby is going for support.
They have all been lovely but as you say you get the not so nice one’s too, it is just unfortunate that when you are worried about something you get someone like that who does seem to humiliate you, I am going to take the bull by the horns today and just going to say my piece!!
Thanks again, Rowlaine
