pain in breast

Hi i found a lump in my left breast a while ago and i had it tested thankfuly i was advised it was benign but have to go bck in 3 months to have it checked.For the past 2 days i have had severe pain and i am wondering if it is anything to worry about.

I would suggest that you make an appointment to get it checked - probably nothing to worry about (you will soon get so fed up of that phrase) but any changes should be checked asap.

Hi Catrina

I would ring the breast care nurse or gp to get advice. You have a change in symptoms and should get it checked, it could be an infection and will get worse.

Hi there

Insist that they check it out ask for a mamogram/ultrasound. Everything I read told me that you don’t get any pain with breast cancer. I had a hardened area and probably wouldn’t have bothered about it but had some pain in my shoulder and arm so had it checked out. My GP wasn’t concerned. I went back to see him a second time after 2 weeks and he sent me for a mamogram to be on the safe side. It did turn out to be breast cancer.

It is unusual and it probably is nothing to worry about, but you have to make sure even just to put your mind at rest.

I’m off to the clinic today & I’m a bit concerned about being fobbed off - my main symptom is pain/discomfort and thickening - I’m worried that because of my age they may be dismissive, as much as I don’t like the idea of the more invasive tests, I’ve been so stressed this week and I want to be reassured, but if they don’t take it seriously I don’t think I’m going to feel any better.

Good luck Bex, I too had thickening and lots of pain which I ignored for a while as i thought cancer didn’t hurt. Turned out to be lobular but i really wish you luck. xxx GraceT

Thanks Grace, just posted on the “trying not to worry” thread - all ok, benign cystic glandular tissue - will keep an eye on it but very relieved xx

hope you are okay -
thank you so much for your advise -
with myself it isnt just the pain - its my left nipple which is inverted and i have started to notice a discharge,
to be honest i just do not know how to feel.
i am so gald i have joined this forum as everyone is so re asurring.
i will keep you informed bex,
