Pain in original tumour area

I had BC ten years ago - lumpectomy, chemo, rads and Tamoxifen. Now have pain in the area where the tumour was. I rang the breast clinic and they said a GP needs to re-refer. Had a mammogram in January and results were fine. Is this pain normal ten years on?

Hi Mermaid72,

I’m sorry you haven’t yet received a reply to your post - you may like to post in the Ask Our Nurses section of the Forum instead, where our specialists will be able to help.

All the best,

Hi mermaid I too am having burning pain in right breast where I had cancer four years ago, I have contacted my breast care nurse only to be told it is probably side effects of radiotherapy four years on?  She has told me to rub ibulieve anti-inflammatory cream into the breast and take anti inflammatory tablets as well for two weeks then get back to her if this hasn’t worked??? ? not happy at all.

I am not convinced this is going to work plus I have always been told not to use both cream and tablets together, I can’t use tablets because I have other health issues but she didn’t ask me about these.

If I were you I would insist that your gp  refer you due you your history of breast cancer.

I am going to go and see my consultant as the cream is not working for me.

Good luck hope you’re ok

Will let you know the outcome for me xx

Hi jcon and thanks for replying, I am on holiday and the pain is bad - I’m going to make an appointment at the GP for when I get back. Hope you can see your consultant soon xx
