Pain weeks after lumpectomy

Hi I had a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removal 7 weeks ago. My wound has been looking and feeling ok for a couple of weeks. But last night I turned over in bed and I think I’ve pulled something. There was a sharp pain at the time and now it’s sore just under the wound. Does this happen/ should I be worried? I have cording running up and down my arm and ribs and it must pass pretty close to the wound as it’s right at the side of my breast. Could it be something to do with that? I’ll try my nurse team on the phone later, but can’t often get through.

Hi @fionas1. Welcome to the forum, we hope you find it a helpful and supportive place.

I thought this thread may be useful from people experiencing pain after their own lumpectomy and discussing what worked for them: Pain after lumpectomy & SNB - #3 by morion24

If you have any questions in the meantime, you can also speak to one of our nurses, reach them on our free helpline 0808 800 6000.

I truly hope you are able to get some answers soon.

Best wishes,

Chloe

Hi Fionas1. I had a lumpectomy in 2025 and still have pain on the incision sight and underneath my armpit where they removed the lymph node . Actually asked my doctor about it last week. She said most people complain of this . There are a lot of nerve endings especially underneath your arm . I feel relieved now knowing an explanation for the pain off and on . I get it every little pain makes you think about cancer .
