Painful arm - swimming

girls, I went swimming for first time since recon over a year ago. really enjoyed it. my arm (lymh removal side) is now bit swollen at the wrist, long line of redness down the inside and I cant straighten it fully. do you think I just over did it ? should I be concerned ?

Could just be sore muscles as you have not used your arm for such a long time. But if there is redness, might be something else. I would suggest that you have it checked as soon as possible, better safe than sorry. I swim regularly, despite total auxillary clerance and my arm gets heavy, but always recovers after a few hours, so I carry on with it. My lymphoedema nurse said that swimming is such a good all round exercise, that I take the chance. But I am very careful about bites/scratches, that sort of thing, to avoid infection. And I try not to lift heavy object on that side.
