Hi all
I recently posted for advice regarding pain and soreness to my veins and arm whilsy indergoing chemo. Well, I spoke to my Complementary Therapis the end of last week who made up a blend of oils for me to rub gently onto my arm several times a day. The results have been amazing!! Within one day, the soreness had almos gone completely and I can now use my arm almost normally again with only minimal discomfort. A handy tip worth passing on if it improves things just a tiny bit for any of you
Hi Mac123. I was in hosp for a week with my chemo arm, it is still very sore and the veins are like cords, I have exercises to do but the swelling and lack of movement is annoying. Can your CT let you know what oils she used?? Thanks Kat
Hi all. My onc suggested I rub petroleum jelly (Vaseline) in an upwards direction as often as I liked. It does indeed feel really comforting and so far, touch wood, my veins are holding up.
Morning all
My Comp Therapist has e mailed me. The oils she used in the lotion were 5 drops cypress, 5 drops lemon and 5 drops Rosewood mixed with 100ml carrier lotion and 10 ml Calendula carrier oil. I hope this helps :smileyhappy:
I was recommended comfrey oil by the chemo nurses and that works too. Holland and Barrett had it on the shelf.
Hi all. I know I’m adding to this a little after the event, but I’m really glad to read your comments, especially regarding the oils used by CT. I am due my 4th FEC90 chemo on Wednesday 2nd and the veins in my chemo arm are really sore and feel like they are actually constricting! I can’t straighten my arm as it hurts to much. I’ve tried trying to gently stretch it, but it just hurts!! ? I also heard that rubbing voltarol gel helped, but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. I discussed pic line with my onc, but he said they don’t use pic lines for that type of chemo so I’ve just got to tough it out I guess. Will try the oils though. Thank you. x
