I know pain isn’t normally on the list of signs to look out for but am aware that some ladies have had pain
Basically, I had a screening mammogram in November and thank goodness it was clear
A couple of nights ago I was woken up by a terrible pain in one breast which was agony and went on for some time although I think both pain and time feel worse in the early hours of the morning! and there has been milder pain in it since.
I don’t think on its own would I be too worried but I have had a couple of scares in the past, twice been to the breast clinic and both times again thankfully the mammos were clear
I’ve never had a lump, but had a hot burning pain in nipple and an indentation which as each thing came I went to GP who as I say referred me twice - a couple of years apart Each time it is the same breast that is affected (including this pain)
Anyone have ANY thoughts or experiences that they feel may help?
I think if you are worried then you should visit your GP to get the pain checked out. Is it muscular ? Have you been doing any exercises to cause the pain? I notice that you say your nipple is indented which is exactly the way I noticed my bc, the tumour was underneath my nipple so I could not feel it. Go back to the GP and ask for advice , that is what they are there for. Try and get an appointment tomorrow so that you set the ball rolling before the weekend. Take care Tracy x
It’s good you have a GP who is ready to refer you. My lump was behind my nipple and didn’t show up on a mammogram; some types of tumour don’t. If you have any worries at all I would say definitely go to your GP - it doesn’t matter how many times you are referred. Pauline xx
Further to my previous post, I also meant to say I had pain in my breast which mainly struck at night. I had to sort of wedge my boob under my arm to get comfortable but at the time I convinced myself pain wasn’t a sign of breast cancer.
Hi Sandy
Sorry that you are having a worrying time at the minute.
Lots of things can cause breast pain that is not cancer and I hope that is the case with yours. If you are worried though I would definately ask for another referral and state how worried you are and for them to perhaps do a breast MRI. I had pain in my breast and 3 clear mammograms even on the day of diagnosis I had a clear mammogram and ultrasound. It was only found through biopsy and breast MRI that is not routinely offered.
I did not just have pain though, I had an indent and my breast shrunk in size. I had to keep going back and it was on my third visit ! So I always say ANY changes or abnormalities need checking. Hopefully everything will be OK for you, because most visits to the breast unit do turn out to be nothing, Good luck xx
The pain I had seems to have gone which I’m taking to be a good sign (hope so anyway). If it returns I’ll definitely go to GP, but will keep an eye on things.
Hope I’m taking the right course of action
Lots of love and best wishes and Good Luck to you all
