Painful finger and toenails...

Hi to all

I finished my last chemo (Taxotere) on 23 July, and since then my finger and toenails have become very sore and painful.
My fingers and toes are very stiff and feel almost numb, and any pressure on my nails is quite painful, even the quilt in bed at night is painful if resting on my toes, I have to keep them to the side or sticking out from the quilt lol! Anything fiddly like doing up buttons, popping a tablet out of its packet, pulling the tab on a tin to open it, that sort of thing is painful. Also, some of my nails have got large dark red marks on them which I have to cover with nail polish.
My oncologist just says its a side effect and should go in time. But I was wondering if anyone else has had this and can tell me how long it takes to go away?

Thanks, take care xx

Hi Milos Mum

if you go to latest posts and type fingers and toes in the search thingy you will find a thread started by Elaine-r.Hope it helps best wishes Mel xx

Milos~Mum - I am sorry you are having so much discomfort. As Mel says, there is another thread about this.

I had WLE/SNB and rads. I didn’t have chemo but I have ridges across my two big toes. The left one is worst and it is really sore. It feels as if the nail is being pulled off, although it looks ok. I know it can take up to a year for the nail to grow out and it is almost a year since my dx. I wonder whether it was the trauma, the anaesthetic or the rads which have caused it. Anyone else had this, without chemo?
