Painful port??

I have an expander implant in, which was inflated fully 2 weeks ago. I have had an awful lot of pain since the last inflation, it has normally settled down after 2 or 3 days, but this time its much worse. I cant lie on that side, and is hurts in my chest muscles and my back, an under my arm. I have noticed today that the port has moved, it is now right next to the implant, and it hurts like mad, when i touch it. There isnt any sign of swelling, so i dont think its infected or anything. Has anyone else had trouble with the port moving.

Hi

I had exactly the same problem had to go back to clinic and have some fluid taken out. I felt as if I could not breathe. Give your nurse a ring she can organise it for you.

take care

Hi,

Yup my port can be a right pain, filling it up was a mission as it kept moving and even flipped itself upside down. Filled as much as poss now. It does go through phases of being fine and phases of being a pain, this week I can lie on my side, last week I couldn’t. I think mine is pretty much on top of my implant now.

It does sound like yours might be a bit or a problem if it’s still sore to touch.

My port has been a pain from the beginning. It is under my reconstruction but right on the bra line so any bra I wear can tend to press on it. It moves around and if a bend down to pick something up and it is in just the wrong place it can really hurt.

Hiya,

I had my temp implant/expander down 8 months ago now…long story!! and it still hurts me and like cat it was placed right on my bra line. Though it took a few months to settle i still cannot lie on it.
The pain after expansion was bad but the nurse said to make sure i took painkillers the day before and keep going for as long as it took. I am pencilled in for recon 21st April and skin sparing mastecomy to the other breast and recon on that too!!

Hi I haven’t had a mx, but even so my port is quite uncomfortable, and often wakes me up when I move in my sleep. It hurts to touch it, and I get painful twinges quite often. I have only had it a few weeks and was hoping it would settle down.
