Has anyone developed teeth problems since finishing chemo. I’ve developed problems top right hand side of my mouth, but cant tell if its one tooth causing the problem or a few of them. The pains come and go, sometimes its like toothache, sometimes sensitivity to cold, sometimes it feels like bone pain. I’ve been backwards and forwards to to my dentist and had all sorts of tests done and one filling replaced, but she cant find anything wrong.
I hadn’t connected it to my treatment at all, but my Reflexologist tells me that teeth problems can occur after chemo.
am also on monthly IV Pamidronate as well, dont know if thats relevant.
Any advice anyone?
HI Jane
Hope all is well, apart from the teeth problem? I’m afraid I haven’t got any advice as I haven’t had any teeth problems but maybe it differs with the various chemos. I have just been back to the dentist to see the hygenist for a good clean up - goodness did they need it. Four months of using a childs toothbrush didn’t do much to help them!!
yep i had terrible toothache, fortunalty dad is a dentist so went straight away, at first they thought it was an impacted wisdom tooth but then the next day i had gum swelling and really bad nerve problems, dad said that nerve endings are more sensitive due to the chemo and the swelling was infection as my body was run down, i took anti biotics for the swelling and nurofen for the pain and thankfully it went
so my advice - get anti b if any swelling, if not just take a load of nurofen and rinse mouth with saltwater but it does sound like it is the nerve endings causing pain which is why the dentist cant immediatly spot the problem.
good luck!
