Parliamentary enquiry into older people and breast cancer want to hear your experiences

Older people with breast cancer may not be receiving the information, support and treatment they need.

We’re working with the All Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer (with Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign) to gather evidence so we can work on improving the situation. The inquiry will focus on:

  • breast cancer risk, awareness and early detection/late presentation
  • access to gold-standard treatments, including breast reconstruction, and to clinical trials
  • access to information and support.

Contact the inquiry on appg@breakthrough.org.uk to tell your experiences.

You can find out more about submitting your evidence on the APPG inquiry web page.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Friday 5 April 2013.

What age makes you “older”?

Perhaps it’s over 65?

Sorry, double posted!! Old age you see, and I’m only 62 .

Hi PG
I wondered this too … and checked … and their website says the following…

‘We are keen to hear from people who have been diagnosed over the age of 65 in the last five years or and their families, partners and carers.’

I spose that as I’m too old at 51 to be in the ‘younger woman’ bracket and too young to be in ‘older’ bracket, I like you, must be an ‘inbetweeny!’

Wonder when they will look in to younger women too - the amount of us thay get dismissed by GP’s and medical professionals is shocking!
