Just wondered if anyone had used the Paxman cold cap ( machine) and what the results were like, or do you know anyone else who has used it. Have heard it’s got a very good success rate.

Hi there!! Just finished my CHemo - using Paxman Cold Cap and have still got a hairstyle - no bald patches - alot of thinning but if you didn’t know me you couldn’t tell. And I style & use straighteners as normal - haven’t really changed anything other than now I only wash it every 8th or 9th day rather than every 4th or 5th - no big deal!!
I have to say though that the sensation builds up and you have to REALLY want to keep your hair to use it every session. By the end I was going to a Hypnotherapist a few days before the next CHemo session in order to try to forget the sensation. I don’t think I could ever put it on my head again either - I would be a baldie if I had to go through Chemo again - but it did the job so what can I say?!! Try it - the first 20 minutes are savage but after that you get used to it!!!
hi i am the same had gt results no hair thinning either. its a horrible thing to have on your head but much better than loosing my hair i couldnt cope with that and everyone knowing. i live in a village and still noone knows they prob think i just let myself go a bit. as i am 50 and been grey for years covered with a natural dye so agian nonoe knew but you cant dye your hair so i am grey again. they also said avoid cutting it until chemo out of system then hair will be stronger. i also wash it once a week i do use a lower heat setting but thats all. go for it and if you can stand it its worth it. one tip is have hair cut fairly short. the shorter the better as when hair all put in cap if theres a lot its harder for cap to work… hope you underst and all this. julie
