Hi wondered if any could give me their opinion or has done this. I am 55 in September so can access my private pension I have liver mets, just had second scan and the chemo did it’s job they can now only see 1 small met. I am wanting to draw my pension to pay off my mortgage as I am single , with children still living at home I know if you have less than 12 months if your medical team sign it off you can draw it down paying no tax, which would save me around £85000, many oncologists now won’t put a time on it well mine doesn’t like too obviously we are still classed as incurable. I know I need to ask if they would complete the forms (I Didn’t know this was an option until I spoke with a financial advisor) has anyone had any experience in doing this? Why are these forms so outdated in reality it’s so hard for oncologists to say with new treatments etc thank you to anyone that replies xx
Dear @Blonde123 , I found this page on Macmillan’s website that is about drawing pension early.
They have a dedicated team that can speak to you about finances, work and pension, and the support line is open every day on freephone 0808 808 00 00, between 8am-8pm.
Sending our warmest wishes
Bernard
