Hi. I wondered if I could speak to anyone that is going through something similar. For the past two years I have battled with periductal mastitis, it’s been a nightmare to say the least! I am 30 abd a casual smoker. The condition had got so bad that I’ve had the area lanced 4 times and been in hospital with cellulitis as a result of infection. I seem to be on antibiotics every second week and ut feels like as soon as this settles and I think it’s gone it’s back 
It starts with my nipple stinging and sore to touch, then the bottom of the nipple stiffens and the whole nipple inverts. It then hardens at the side of the nipple and becomes red,hot inflamed and sore to touch. The redness starts to spread up the breast and I get no relief until the infection comes to a blister next to the nipple and releases. I have seen surgeons, GPS and no one can give me any other relief but through antibiotics. I feel it may be linked with my cycle but doctors haven’t acknowledged this and keep saying it’s due to being a smoker. Has anyone had a similar experience? I used to have sore lumps while on birth control but two years ago I came off it to try for a baby and since it has been so bad, again that’s why I think it could be linked to hormones. Any advice or to hear anyone’s stories would be really helpful, I feel even the doctors don’t know alot about this condition and I am so fed up with it now. Thanks.
Hi I am kind of going thru what u r recurring episodes of periductal mastitis this last year I’m to a smoker I’m 26. I have suffered terrible health anxiety over this antibiotics take a while for mine to respond the area next to my nipple gets so hard an peau d orange which freaks me out as all I read with that is a cancer diagnosis I to do not no anyone going through this I was currently in a n e Sunday as pain was so bad breast was swelling and was on the verge of purple I had my antibiotics changed again doctor thinks an abscess is forming and refers me to breast clinic I hate it I constantly worry about ibc like I’m obsessing docs are missing something it’s so bad I have 3 children n I waste most days worrying about this

I totally get how anxious you can become with it, it feels like it’s taking over my life. I have one/two good weeks a month if that but all these antibiotics bring me down. Yeah mine goes the Peu duorange and the redness spreads and spreads right up my breast with it very solid to the right or the nipper and inverted. The only relief I get is when the blister bursts that forms around day three and pus is released. I’ve had this tested also with nothing detected in it. I just feel like I keep going through the same pattern every month. Doctors are fed up seeing me and surgeons keep telling me the same thing, treat with antibiotics and it eventually goes away itself. What antibiotics are you being prescribed? I find co-amoxiclav to be the best. I have tried clarithymycin however it only worked once and I prefer to take the co-amoxiclav as I know it works and I’m scared it will get worse if the antibiotics don’t kick in quick. Just this week I have spent a fortune at the health food shop and plan to try and build up my immunity to prevent it’s reoccurrence. I have euthanasia drops which fights colds and flu but builds your immunity. Vitamin D tablets and probiotics. These were recommended when I phoned the organic helpline. Did you have any trouble with this while pregnant with your children or before? And have you noticed a link with your menstraul cycle? I am trying to conceive and can’t help think this is something with my hormones and effecting my chances. I hope this helps you. X
I started a year ago however I don’t see if it’s anything to do with my cycle as back in April I had the contraceptive implant in and it stopped all periods I have been given co amoxiclav this time it’s took the pain away but that’s all I to am getting a blister/abscess coming to the skin which I have never had before normally it just swells with redness I also don’t get a fever do u? I have asked for an immune test at my docs but was told it won’t my immune system I don’t no if I’m in the right direction but I had a lot of stress last year before all this I kept it all in tbh and this reoccurrence I’ve also been under quite alot of stress I don’t no if u have been I’m just trying anything for an answer lol if u wud message me privately on my email if u didn’t mind so I cud speak to u privately it’s hay1990.hh@gmail.com x
