Hello everyone
hope someone can help. I was diagnosed in oct 2007 and started tamoxifen shortly after. My periods slowed and eventually stopped ten months ago but have now restarted, two in the last month. I dont know if this is “normal” or if I should be doing something about it or if it is a side effect of Tamoxifen. Cant ask mum or any of my sisters as they all had hysterectomies in their thirties. Hope someone can help. I cant believe I am so ignorant about these things!!
Thanks
Hilary
Hi,
Not sure of I can help as I have only been on Tam 2 months. But my periods haven’t stopped so I asked my onc and he said he wasn’t bothered and they didn’t always stop.
Is it possible you might just have reached a normal menopause when periods can stop and start for a while (sorry, you didn’t say how old you are)

Hello Linda
I am 55. My periods went a bit haywire whe I started tamoxifen and then slowly dwindled off.
Thanks and good luck
Hilary
Hi
My periods stopped on FEC 4. I then went straight onto tam so they didn’t return ( started tam in oct 2011). My ONC said they could come back but to check with gp if they did.
Maybe a trip to your gp if only to put your mind at rest.

Hi,
It sounds like normal menopause to me then. If you are still worried or would like a more medical opinion it would be worth giving the help line here a call.

Hi,
you should let your Onc know, mine returned on Tamoxifen & i was put on Zoladex to stop them.

Hello Hillary,
I think because you have been on Tam for so long you really should ring your BCN. I think it’s prudent to get any unexpected bleeding checked out.
Having said that I do agree with the advice given so far. It may well be normal cycle.
But please do phone your nurse.
