periods Hi everyone
Dont want to be too graphic but has anyone had really heavy period whilst having chemo.
My period was about a week late i actually thought it wasnt coming but it has and im experiencing a very heavy bleed. Not much in itself but i usually have very light periods so am not used to this. Is it usual im going for my 3rd epi on Tuesday.
Thanks

Hi Jackie
I’m suffering from bad heavy periods with lots of large clots (sorry not a nice thought!) I normally don’t get periods but within 1 hour of chemo I start bleeding heavily and it lasts a long time, I had by last chemo last Friday and I’m still very heavy, the last time I’d bled for about 10 days and then it stopped but of course next dose 2 wks later it all started over again. My doctor didn’t really have an explanation for this or any suggestions on what I could do to possibly stop it.

Hi Jackie,
Yes I have also had heavy, long periods during my chemo. Before bc I was on the mini pill and didn’t have periods, which suited me just fine, but have had 2 periods since treatment started, and both were very heavy and about 10 days long. The last one started 1 day after my 4th epi, so I had been a real mare to everyone for a few days before, and didn’t know why, then couldn’t tell if the night sweats were chemo or period!!

Hi Girls
I am also having problems with my periods. I am on FEC halfway through and I am geting my period , then two weks later am bleeding again, Very bright red and quite heavy.
Spoke to Doc at hospital about it today and they are sending me for a scan of my pelvis, presumably to rule out anything sinister. I feel more reassured now that I know I am not alone.
It must be the Chemo.
Take care

Hi Jackie
I am between 3rd and 4th FEC treatments and so far I experienced heavier and more frequent periods which was a surprise as I was convinced they would stop or just not return as I had a baby 3 months before treatment started. With the first experience I wnet for a blood test which showed all was normal and so didnt worry anymore. They were very understanding at the hospital but as with you couldnt offer much explanation other than this sometimes happens but with this and the normal blood test I felt OK. On the bright side it means they havent stopped and arent painful (for me). On the downside its yet another thing to contend with and very inconvenient on top of everything else !
