2 months after my mastectomy, the pain gets worse. Like constant stretching, pulling apart. Have raised scar/lump because wound kept filling and had to be drained. Surgeon apologised.
Dear Joanna1,
Welcome to the forum, we are all here for you. So sorry to read you are in so much discomfort after your surgery.
You, have been through a lot and still going through it with the site filling up and needing to be drained this is all tell on you I feel this is why you are experience so much discomfort.
Have a word with your breast cancer nurse, she will be there to look after and support you, I feel sure that she will point you in the right direction to make you feel more comfortable it is still very early days for you, however, not very pleasant when you’re in pain.
Please let us know how you’re doing when you’re feeling up to it. Wishing you well with lots of love Tili
I have been discharged from breast clinic. Surgery was in June. ( I said no to radiotherapy and hormone tablet.) I would have to be referred again by my GP. I just wondered how long to expect pain to last. I do a lot of gardening which unfortunately seems to aggravate it. Thank you so much. Rosemarie.
Hi @joanna1
Sorry to hear of the problems you are having. As @Tili has already mentioned you should call your breast clinic. Most clinics have open access for life after a bc diagnosis, even if you’ve been officially discharged, it allows you quick and easy access rather than going to GP and waiting for appointment. So if you have the nurses contact number I would give them a call.
If not you may want to contact the BCN nurses here

I had a bilateral lumpectomy last July, which Chemo, Herceptin and radiotherapy (January) and still have chest wall pain. I just keep being told it takes time, one nurse said it can be up to a year.
Hope you get some relief soon
