pertuzumab and trastuzumab - allergic reaction?

Hi 

I’ve been on pertuzumab and trastuzumab since October 2019 without suffering any reaction or major side effects. During my last treatment, I had an allergic reaction which resulted in an itchy rash on my arms and body. The nurses aren’t sure which treatment the reaction was to, but suspect tratuzumab as my reaction became apparent about a third of the way through.

My onc is calling next week to discuss next steps. But I’d be really interested to hear from others that have had a reaction, especially those who have had several treatments prior. I’m worried that the treatment will be stopped.

Im not on that combo but I have heard of this before from a lady who is on this combo. It seems that the IV Herceptin element is now ‘off-licence’ so you can be given a non branded ie generic trastuzumab and this can cause the problem. Check with your oncologist whether you have recently had a change of the brand of treatment, it may be causing the problem. If you haven’t then I have not other suggestions, sorry.
