Pets and animals

Hi everyone,

I know that lots of us have pets which are a big part of our lives. Why not share photos and stories about your pets or just cute animals in general. I remember when the private forum started up Di used to tell us about her horse Freddie and how she was learning dressage. It would be nice to hear from her again. Best wishes xxx

Hi Waffles, brilliant idea!!! As you all know I have just got a dog  Heidi my gorgeous little cavachon, we haven’t had a dog before  (apart from when we lived at home as children) she is so good and just craves affection but she does have separation issues, she needs to be able to see you all the time. She has been sleeping in her bed on the landing at night but is getting us up around 5.30 each morning ?. …I’m sooo tired! Any tips on training her to feel safe in her own company ladies???

Hiya Jeanette .
She has obviously had a tough time previously and it will take a few weeks . The one thing dogs don’t like is closed doors as they are natural nomads and if you are closing your bedroom door perhaps she is waking up and feeling like she is isolated?
When we have our son’s dogs for sleepovers they always wake up early but I just open up the duvet and invite them in for cuddles until a respectable time!!! Try not to let her drink too much late in the evening too.
It’s trial and error …bless xxxx

Thanks ladies for your advice, I’ve done really well with her today she’s been sooo good. Had to go upstairs to do some ironing and sorting out, she did her usual trick of following me but I told her “down, bed” and she did ?so every time I have gone upstairs I have continued this and now sometimes she hasn’t even tried to follow me! I will allow her upstairs I’m not apposed to her coming up but only going to allow her to when invited, I’m doing it more for her benefit than mine to let her understand that I’m not leaving her and that I am coming back. Do you think this is right???  She is a wonderfully obedient little girl to say she is only 14 month and hasn’t had the best start in life…will keep you posted on her progress!!

I don’t think there is a right or wrong way but she will soon get the hang of it.
They r worth every bit of the time and mess though as such good company and diversion from life with the big c.
We haven’t actually owned our own dog for 12 years ( had a Jack Russell for 18 years) but we dog sit our son’s dogs virtually every day .
Just going our for a meal tonight as its hubs birthday …yum another night no cooking.

Our dog Molly a springer spanial also had a bad start, she was 9 months old when we had her that was almost 9 years ago.  We had decided not to have another dog after loosing one but the local dog warden called and said this little dog had been badly treated and was drastically under weight desperately needing a good home.

What could we say? She is very bossy and we are sure she can tell the time, we are both at home now so she gets us out walking every day.

What would we do without them.

Haha …every time I turn my phone to look …it revolves and I still can’t see Heidi the right way up but she’s gorgeous …7 am is a lot more respectable too.

Ha ha …wait until the squeaking drives u mad after a few hours !!!
You will soon buy the silent ones !! One of the best things for pups is a plastic thing ( by king kong) and u put treats in it and they have to knock it around to get them out. Well it’s ok unless you have wooden floors !!

He wasent gorgeous at 4am when he needed a pee!!! Wouldn’t go on grass before bedtime as it was rainning !!

Hiya still here I get the option to change size of photo when I upload. I change it to small.
It’s trial and error …
Looking forward to seeing the dachshund …love them. Theres lots to be said for small dogs …less to pick up with the poo bags !! Both my son’s have big dogs and its like shovelling up after a horse!!

Hey guys,

we went on holiday to a villa in Spain and the owners had fostered this little boy. He had been chucked in a bin just days old with his siblings, our friends own the villa foster abandoned animals,.

We fell in love with him, and brought him home with us.

He is an andalusian podenco maneto, with a pronounced underbite and we love him  xxxxx
