Phesgo and new allergies

I am just coming to the end of my Phesgo injections. It’s been a bumpy ride with me having reactions in my throat and lips when having the injection and a long term very itchy skin. Over the last few months I’ve also developed seasonal allergies. I’m in my 60s and never had this before. I’ve also developed an allergy to my dog. Oncologist thinks it’s a coincidence but I’m wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar. oncologist has prescribed an antihistamine called Certirazine.

I have a known atopic tendency and previous history of drug reactions. I have found chemo really ramped that up to the hilt. I cannot use,ost things on my skin as it became super reactive to the point latex is not something I can handle- literally. I react to most of the sticky tapes etc used in hospitals to the point the chemotheraphy nurses placed a warning screen on my e-notes. I also had repeated adverse reactions to the initial chemotheraphy drugs so oncologist had to come up with plan B. I have had Abraxine, carboplatin and Phesgo pre surgery.

TBH it is not much fun.my oncologist prescribes me daily citrizine, a heap of prescription lotions and potions to reduce the risk of OTT eczema flares and delayed skin regions s well as an ion al course of prendisalone steroids to take. It’s not perfect but it has helped keep my drug and skin allergies more damped down and made my world more comfortable.

May I suggest taking photos of any skin reactions to show to your oncologist?I did that to show mine, they winced at how bad it had got and took it very seriously.. if you have Phesgo I am hazarding a guess you have HER+ so you may find the HER and need buddies thread in introductions of some support and help. You are not alone in Chemotheraphy and targetted theraphy ramping up lurking atopic tendencies.

Thank you. When the going gets so tough - it’s good to know that I am not alone. Best wishes for your treatment.

You are not alone and there are other woman in the HER and need buddies thread who have found their atopic tendency has been made a little to a lot worse by treatment. THey tend to be happy to share tips, suggestions and signpost to items and products that they have found helpful as well as sharing tips on how to encourage your oncologist to help manage side effects rather than simply dismissing them. hope all goes well and your body stops being quite so reactive.
