Phyllodes Tumour

After what seemed like one of the longest weeks ever I finally got my results today, well, sort of.

Basically i’ve had mammo, scan, cell biopsy and core biopsy, the first biopsy threw up abnormal cells so I had a second core biopsy, been for the results of this today and the consultant is pretty sure I’ve got a phyllodes tumour although they will not be completely certain until the tumour is removed, now when I spoke to him he told me that the tumour was benign but that he was having a meeting with the pathologist and radiographer and the Macmillan nurse would give me a call with regards to this meeting which she did later this afternoon, general consensus being that I would definitely have to have the tumour removed and possibly will need reconstructive surgery as my breasts are quite small, she also stated that the tumour will then be sliced to find out if it’s definitely benign, arrrgh.

Got to see the consultant again on the 13th September (he’s on holiday next week) to discuss surgery, just wondered if there is anyone out there with experience of phyllodes tumour, they’re quite rare apparently but I’m still hoping there are others on here who can offer any information on them, in the meantime I’m googling and trying to find as much information as possible.
