I have my Picc line fitting today and am just looking for advice from anyone who has had one. Will I need to get undressed or if I wear something with short sleeves will that do?
Any advice about the procedure and what happens etc would be great too.

Hi, How did you get on? I am having mine inserted tomorrow. What did you wear? As it isn’t the most attractive thing to look at, have you managed to find a supplier who sells arm covers ( not the waterproof shower ones) here in the UK? I hope it was all pain-free and uneventful. laura
Hi Laura, sorry to say it was an epic fail! I wore short sleeves which was fine and my hubby was allowed to come in with me too which was a bonus! But as my veins have already suffered some damage from the chemo they have narrowed and hardened she couldn’t get the line in, after 4 failed attempts (2 with a local and 2 without) I couldn’t take any more and she had to give up!
What Iwill say though is if it hadnt been for my stupid narrow veins it would have been perfectly ok, it’s not pleasant but certainly doable and definitely worth it. Don’t let my experience put you off! Hope yours goes well good luck xx

I wore short sleeves when I had mine fitted. my hospuital gave me a sleeve to wear and they changed it every week when i had my line fliushed.
