Picc line hurts! And straight to Chemo !

Hi … I am due to have my first fec tomorrow after a triple negative grade 3 ductal diagnosis at the start of December. It’s been a crazy month in the waiting , with CT, MRIs etc and also now the possibility of the BRCA gene awaiting result.
Did anyone else get sent straight to Chemo because of this type rather than surgery first?

Also my picc line inserted three days ago really aches … is this normal? Will it last? It makes me feel like a patient :frowning:

Hi Arbor,

Hi Arbor please don’t worry about going straight to chemo as it’s quite common. Some oncologists like to do this to shrink the tumour first. I had my chemo first and was really worried to begin with as I felt as though I just wanted it removed but once treatment started I began to feel better and it was reassuring to know that my tumour was shrinking, so I knew that the chemo was working.

You might find it useful to join one of the Facebook groups specifically for women with TNBC - search TNBC warriors and you should find it. If not please let me know and. Can put you in touch with one of the admin team

take care, chris xx

ps hope you got your line sorted out
