Picc line. Tummy injections

Hi

Started chemo on 7th January second was last week. I had a picc line put in last week, thought it would be be for the best as veins seem to disappear when a needle is in sight!!!

Now not so sure the dressing is itchy and find myself worrying about infection. Also too had anyone else had problems with the tummy injections post chemo ??
Getting spasms in my back, told the doctor she just advised to take paracetamol but it doesn’t really touch it. Just wondering if anyone had any advice.?

Thanks

hi Julie

you have posted on ‘ talk to a moderator’ so not sure how many answers you will get? but just thought I would post to say I had very itchy dressings with Picc then developed a rash… once they changed me from Tegaderm to IV300 Dressings I was fine…maybe ask when you have your dressing changed.  Hope you get sorted

Hi @juliedoc12

Had my PICC line in on Wednesday (but don’t actually start chemo till 17th ugh!). I was worried about it being itchy as I have allergies to some plasters, but the one I’ve got on seems to be fine, so perhaps it’s one that was mentioned earlier?

I’ve also had some tips for me for when I start on the filgrastim injections to take Clarityn beforehand and also (if you can have them - check with your team) to have coedine to ease the bone pains.  Also long soaks in bath using 2 cups of Epsom Salts and using a diluted spray of magnesium flakes before bed.

Of course I, as yet, don’t actually know if the above will work, but I’m hopeful.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment xx
