Hi Rozita

I have the same problem - it’s hot flushes, but they generally just make my head and shoulders very hot in bed. Mine started during chemo and have continued through rads and onto tamoxifen but have died down a bit.

I have a chillow but like you it’s either too cold or gets too warm. I’ve heard of people having several chillows to use one after the other. I personally just keep turning the pillow over and pushing the sheet down. Try having lots of light blankets rather than a duvet so you can peel layers off and put them back on again.

there’s not much else I can say, I haven’t found a solution to the problem other than they seem to get better with time.

Good luck

Helen.

I have cold sweats and hot sweats atleast twice a night. i hate it, my period stopped after FEC 3, hasnt returned yet, fec 6 last week. I am nervous it could be menopause, but it could just as easily be a reaction to chemo. My hair now grown tinny tiny bit, my hubby said i look like roland rat, i have to agree with him, its getting to warm to wear a wig, and dont want to walk round like national front lesbian.

I currently wake up every morning with a “Jedward” hairstyle. Due to my nightly drenching with sweat on my head & short hair style. This has started since starting chemo several weeks ago I just turn the pillow over, but this happens several times through the night so can make for a very disturbed sleep.

Last summer my husband fitted a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Now that the weather is warmer I have had that going on low every night and I have slept so much better.

My husband thinks I look like a kiwi fruit, or at least my head feels like one.

a ceiling fan is a very good idea, i forgot 5 years ago when i was going through chemo and we lived in another house, our bedroom had a ceiling fan and it was really good for those blasted night sweats, just kept it on low also and it worked a treat !

oh yes, just when I think I am nodding off. BANG, im wide awake and drenched… struggle out of bed on my tamoxifen joints and flat feet, oh and big bum with chemo belly … must look stunning…stick my head out of the bathroom window…scare the horses in the field…then go back to bed to await further sweats…the only thing that makes it bearable is george clooney next to me … . I wish

take care xxx

Truffle Shuffle
You have just conjoured up such a funny picture in my mind - then I realised it was all too familiar!!!

Have been having night sweats as well and just had a horrendous hot sweat watching the school play, didn’t know what to do with myself, middle of the row, hemmed in sweat pouring down my face, threw jumper off and wanted to throw scarf off as well but i think that might of shocked people!! Was waving the programme around like mad - certainly got a few odd looks.

Trufle shuffle

You gave me such a laugh. The only problem is you could have been describing me!

mrsmc. good we need more laughs I feel, well I live in manchester and if I see anyone in the city yielding a fan and a red face I promise I wont stare…cud set up a users club

take care x

ooh yes I’m all for joining a users club, will defo be buying a fan. My wig has been on and off today like a bride’s nightie with the hots and colds, its wearing me out. Went out for a cycle ride with husband, me wearing a wooly hat, then not, then on again, etc etc. But when I get cold I get FREEZING, its all so confusing. Go to bed in socks and wooly hat (oh so sexy) then have a sweat and it all comes off, including the duvet!!! Good being a girl isnt it!!

Hi sweaty heads

I am 53 post menopausal and have had several different types of sweats over the last few years - The head sweats at night were chemo related - kept turning pillow over - worst sweats at start of tax chemo - whole body - wake up freezing cold and shaking.

For bad sweats sleep on a towel - it soaks up better than pillowcase and sheets.
Get a portable upright fan - i got into habit of turning it on in my sleepy state lying on the edge of the bed until cool and then turning it off - almost in my sleep. There is a timer on them too if you can get the knack of them.
Have not tried chillow.
Finished chemo end of March and now on arimidex - the flushes have improved and are now bearable just a few in the evening and no broken sleep - wish you all well in the hotter weather lol xxxxx Lyn xxx

Hi Gals

I’m a fellow sweaty head. My GP gave me clonidine and it really works. I still get a bit hot but its nothing in comparison to what it was!
