I was just wondering if anyone else was having pins and needles and numbness in hands and feet 5 yrs after treatment?
im exactly 5yrs after, op, chemo, radio and my pins and needles and numbness has come back in 1 hand and foot, it’s mainly at night or after sitting still for a long time, it’s happening most days, I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
You didn’t say what chemo you had. If you had paclitaxel or something like that then you may have had peripheral neuropathy. As far as I’m aware, this can ease off and come back. Certainly that’s what happened to me but mine was a gap of only 18 months and, tbh, some of it had never gone away, just been less troublesome. I also had other nerve damage, always subtle but something I was aware of.
If it’s troublesome, I’d ring your breast care nurse service and see what they advise (they’ll have access to your records). They are there to help at any time, even 5 years later, and their referrals (if one is needed) are escalated. However, we have a tendency to link everything to breast cancer and the treatments. Sometimes it’s another cause entirely so be prepared for that.
