Does anyone have any experience on claiming PIP or other benefits for after surgery and being off work other than sick pay (SSP)
I get PIP Macmillan has a welfare advisor in my area who helped me fill in the form.Try to provide as much medical evidence to back up the effects of your treatment. Remember its not the fact you have Cancer but how it effects your daily life. Keep a copy of your completed form and any other documents you submit. When you get your form ask for an extension to get your form submitted dont feel rushed to fill it in. Good luck x
Thankyou thats a big help ill keep what youve said in mind ![]()
I get new style employment support allowance (ESA) I got it after my ssp finished. You can claim online and then you have a phone call will someone from DWP. It was all very easy and straightforward.
Thankyou twinks77 is that something that i should apply for instead of PIP??
Apply for both. ESA is based on if you paid national insurance in the last two years (I think) and isn’t means tested. You can also apply for universal credit but that is means tested. You can also apply for pip. There’s information on the McMillan website or if you have a McMillan centre at your hospital you could speak to someone there. Or you could give your local job centre a ring and they will be able to advise you.
Thankyou, just wondered with PIP dont you have to need it for 12mths to get it and i really dont know what ill be like after??
