Went for my 2nd biopsy result today and i know i need a mastectomy now, was hoping for immediate reconstruction but my consultant says he is not 100% sure i wont need radiotherapy so that will be delayed by about 6 months .Its strange but i feel calmer knowing things are in motion although its a long road it will be worth the wait .

Hi Tracey, I was diagnosed in November, so quite along way into my treatment now, and can actually see the end is in sight!! I had a left breast masectomy with immediate silicone reconstruction, 9 lymph nodes removed (2 cancerous) so because of this, my age (52) and the breast cancer being ER+ (loves the oestrogen in my body) I’m having chemotherapy (only one more to go ?) and then radiotherapy. Like you, I felt a lot calmer once I knew my treatment plan. Not sure why I was allowed to have immediate reconstruction and you’ve been advised against, but I’ve recently had an appointment to discuss radiotherapy and although the oncologist was unconcerned, it was mentioned that he implant could be affected. I guess all surgeons have different ideas. Do you have a date for your operation yet?
OAD, 2 months is a long time to be waiting for a treatment plan - what stage are you at? Waiting for results is so unsettling. Hope you’re not waiting too much longer!
