Planning life during Chemo

Hi all I have joined the November chemo thread but figured this question is more general. I am about to have my second cycle of EC (3 x 3 weekly) followed by weekly Pactlitaxel for 12 weeks. Basically I am wondering if I dare book a weekend away during the Pactlitaxel? I just feel it would be good to have something to look forward to…Also, if I were to go abroad can you even get insurance when you are actually going through chemotherapy? Thanks in advance Diz x

Hi there

i think it is a fantastic plan to consider a break and i have gone to Devon during my chemo and abroad just before the start of chemo. the thing to consider is the risk of infection as chemo effects are cumulative one.At least for me by the middle of the treatment white blood cells have started dropping and the risk of infection gone high. I got covid and it was not fun.I personally would not go abroad unless it is “your home away from home” and you know  medical facilities, doctors and ect very well… i travel all the time, but i would wait to travel abroad  at least 3-4 weeks after your chemo…

take good care
