Plastic surgery appointment tomorrow

I am all over the place today, i have my appointment with the plastic surgeon tomorrow to discuss my immediate DIEP after my mastectomy. I feel like ive waited forever to get to this stage and was originally told i would of had my surgery mid October. I had 2 biopsies a puncture and then vacuum assisted 7 weeks ago with a delay with my results meaning the referral felt like forever also.
My boob is still sooooo painful with slight bruising not sure if there is anyone else out there who has had a similar experience with this pain? I hope i get a date tomorrow as everything is just in limbo still and now im frightened to death of catching lurgy or covid as that seems to be doing the rounds!

Just seen another post on here somewhere from someone struggling with pain post - biopsy so you aren’t the only one. I also think that our sensitivity to pain is heightened during this awful waiting period because we know something is wrong . I had a lot of axilla pain after VAE - but I was also feeling some in the other side which I knew must be psychological . Yours isn’t but it may be magnified because you are rightfully stressed. Having said that make sure you tell them tomorrow - I had my lumpectomy 7 and half weeks after VAE and when my radio frequency tag was put in the Radiologist said there was still some haematoma there and that was 6 and half weeks after the procedure .

I know what you mean about not catching anything - I was off work anyway as I was just too stressed but I’m a Nurse so I would have been working in a high risk environment in Winter had I stayed at work and between my VAE and post surgery results they all got colds or COVID . The self - imposed exile is miserable but if you get given you a date ( and I hope they do ) and you’re worried I’m sure your GP will understand if you feel you need to take time off sick. It’s a bit harder with family though - at least after tomorrow you will hopefully have a time frame to work to and the awful limbo will have an end in sight . Sending love xx

Thank you so much @JoanneN for your message, im glad its not just me! I think there is something going on as my boob does feel harder than it was so will definatly mention it tomorrow but that VAE was brutal and they wanted 6 biopsies, thank you again for your message

It’s totally normal to feel this way. I would really recommend reaching out to our nurses if you are feeling overwhelmed, or if you have any questions. Sometimes it can just be helpful to talk things through. You can reach them on our free helpline 0808 800 6000, and you can call them as many times as you want or need.

Thinking of you,
