PLEASE HELP WITH RESEARCH

PLEASE HELP WITH RESEARCH

PLEASE HELP WITH RESEARCH I have just taken part in the Breakthrough Generations UK study of the causes of breast cancer and would urge as many as possible to do this. All it involves is a questionnaire and optional blood sampling. My doctor told me this was the largest research study into causes being done at the present time.

More information on:

Please do help if you can.

Judy I’m confused about who is supposed to participate in this study. When I first heard about it, I went onto the website and after reading the information, I came to the conclusion that it was for people who have not yet developed breast cancer.

I have just followed your link and re-read it and I came to the same conclusion. So I’m not sure whether I should volunteer or not.

Help!

Hi Gandalf,

I phoned them to see if they wanted people with bc and they said yes please, so I did!

Judy

I’ve been registered with them for over a year. And yes, they do need people who have already developed bc. There will be follow ups regularly from them about how you are progressing, whether in remission or in treatment. An important programme, even if the results will not be available till long after I’ve gone.

Generations Study Hi,all
I’ve been a supporter of Breakthrough since a friend was diagnosed in 2000, doing a Crocus walk each year, and that was how i heard about the Study. Being a helpful sort of person I sent for the pack and then left it on my dresser where it gathered dust for 3 months!(I’m not the tidiest person in the world)
It was only after my own diagnosis in Feb 06 that I was spured on to fill it in and send it off–amazing !!! - got a few friends involved too!
Just off for penultimate Rads session-early start!
Love and hugs
Chris

Judy Thanks. I have requested the infomation pack.

ordered pack i have ordered a pack and have sent the link to my mum and sister as my mum got breast cancer last year and i got it this year my sister thank god hasnt.

Me too! I’ve just sent off my completed questionnaire and blood samples, this is a very worthwhile piece of research to become involved in.

There’s a form included with the questionnaire where you can add names and addresses of family, friends etc. who you think might like to take part. I asked around and was pleasantly surprised at how many members of my family, plus friends and work colleagues were more than willing to take part. I doubt that a lot of these people would be aware of the research if we didn’t tell them about it, so it’s up to us to spread the word!
