Hi, i felt a burning sensation on my right breast for a few weeks. I went to my GP, She performed an examination and touched some lumps which uptil then I thought were normal, but started hurting once she had pressed down on them. And since then, I’ve had a dull ache in both breast and swelling ( lumps were on both sides almost symmetrical)
Ive had a nightmare weekend since then. Every spare minute im searching on google even though I know I shouldnt. Ive only told one friend so far no one else. Today I’m feeling a tingling sensation on skin and noticed 2 new red spots. Ive been given a screening appointment due to the drs referral but its only the 18th. I rang them to make it earlier but they said they havent got anything so far. Ive rang the doctor again waiting for a call back. Ive read so much and im so soo scared. Please help. What is wrong with me?

Hi ash_86,
Thanks for posting. It’s sounds like this is a difficult time for you and it’s understandable you feel scared. But it’s good to hear that you are breast aware and have been to see your GP about the changes you’ve noticed in your right breast.
We hear from many people who experience pain or discomfort following a breast examination and this can last for some time which might explain the dull ache you feel.
Breast changes such as the tingling sensation and red spots can happen for many reasons. They may be due injury, due to hormonal changes as part of your monthly cycle (if you are still having periods) or due to benign conditions (not cancer). For more information see our booklet Know your breasts: a guide to breast awareness and screening.
Even though you suggested you shouldn’t, googling and reading about breast conditions can be very tempting it can often feed anxiety, so you may need to consider whether this is helpful for you at the moment.
