I went to the hospital yesterday for my 6 monthly check up.
My surgeon asked if I have had any problems, so I thought I would tell him about the thickening that I can feel in my right breast.
I had left mastectomy in jan 07 followed by 6 FEC and now on zoladex for 2 years.
I felt this area about feb time and mentioned it then to his understudy. Was told it was nothing, but keep my eye on it.
I have mentioned it a couple of times since as I have my zoladex injections at the hospital every month, but have never seen “the man himself” so I thought what have I got to lose?
I could see his understudy stood near him almost roll her eyes!!
He had a good feel and said yes he could feel something, but it felt benign.
It could also be hormonal changes due to the zoladex.
I am going back on monday for a mammogram and scan.
I haven’t touched it for a while, but I am getting some serious shooting pains from it
which then goes up to my arm pit.
You have explained the situation so well I can hear what I think is sadness and frustration. I am so sorry that you are in that place. Its no good saying don’t worry because until results from Mondays test you are in ‘Limbo’ so to speak.
I think you are perfectly justified to ask to see your consultant rather than an understudy, if that is what makes you feel more confident then go for it.
I haven’t experience your symptoms so I can offer any suggestions, just my best wishes for a positive out come. Roll on Monday!
Hi Karen
Well I went back for my ultrasound and mammo and was told on the day they were both clear, but my surgeon wanted to take a biopsy
just in case.
Told to go away and forget about it, and he didn’t want to see me for 2 weeks.
I thought this was a good sign but couldn’t relax, because if he wasn’t concerned, why take the biopsy.
Anyway, I went back a week later for my zoladex injection and a female doctor came into the room and said they had my results back.
At this point I decided it couldn’t be serious cause surely the surgeon would have come in with a breast care nurse (like last time)
She said everything was normal, and to come back in 6 months.
So big relief.
I just hate living with every ache and pain thinking it has come back!
Is this how it is going to be now???
Hi Angie i know exactly how you feel, i had results of a biopsy back yesterday, all clear too, but you wonder if youll ever be able to feel a lump bump etc and not think of cancer.
