Hi
Just visited this petition, and found it “closed” during the run up to the General Election. Here’s the message:
___________________________________________________________________
During the official campaign period for the General Election the e-Petitions system will be closed to new submissions and signatures. The Government will also not issue reponses to petitions during this period. This is to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Civil Service Code on party political neutrality.
Any petitions due to close between the announcement of the General Election and 3 June will have their deadlines extended to 3 June. Petitions will reopen for signatures upon the formation of the Government following the General Election.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
____________________________________________________________________
So . . . no one will be able to sign any e-petitions until after the 6th of May 2010.

The Government e-petition website has been put on hold, so it makes it difficult for the ordinary person to protest about their plans. All open petitions have been closed. This is what it says now:-
**********************************************
"With a new Government in place a review is taking place of online services, including e-petitions. We are committed to improving the e-petitions process and are looking at ways of ensuring that it functions as part of a cohesive approach to public debate and transparent government. A full announcement on how we plan to use these and other services across Government will be made as soon as this important work is completed.
Existing e-petitions, submitted to the previous administration, will not be carried forward to the new administration as part of this process. E-petitions that were live at the time of the election announcement on 6 April, when the e-petitions system was suspended, will therefore not be reopened for signatures. We are issuing responses to petitions that had exceeded the 500 signatures threshold as of 6 April 2010 and these can be viewed on the HMG e-petitions responses page.
We will welcome resubmission on issues of concern to the improved e-petitions system when it is launched later in 2010."

They say they will start something new - but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Sorry I was too late to sign. I am on Lapatinib now but having to pay private. We are looking into ways to get funding but not much luck at the moment. We havent had our first bill yet, but we could be looking at £2000 for 21 days treatmant. And thats on top of the tests I might have to pay for.
