Pleomorphic LCIS

Hi there,

I’m 53 and have been diagnosed with two areas of pleomorphic LCIS which is treated as DCIS.  I was offered a mastectomy with reconstruction if wanted.  I was diagnosed with alopecia universalis a year ago and this on top has totally shocked me. I wasn’t sure I could cope with no body hair and no breast My surgeon then offered me a therapeutic mammoplasty as I am around an F-G cup but if the margins weren’t clear I would then go with the mastectomy.  I decided to stick with mastectomy and implant as prob no radiation and I would have more control.  Not sure if I have panicked!! I have been offered a breast reduction on the other side to match at the same time as NHS waiting lists are so long and am wondering if this is just way too much surgery. has anyone been in a similar position or had a breast reduction the same time as a mastectomy? what was the recovery like?

Hi @scooby9600

If you felt this was something you’d like to chat to our team of breast care nurses about, remember you can call us on freephone 0808 800 6000, or even post a message right here on the forum, in one of these boards.

Sending our warmest wishes
