Hi Has anyone had a plural effusion aspiration done where they draw off some fluid to test the cells in it? Ifg so can anyone give me a clue as to how long it took to get results? Many thanks
Hi Wizard,
I had an aspiration done two years ago and it took a week to map the cells. Unfotunately it was breast cancer cells. I had chemo and the effusion has remained stable but I’ve not a node in my lung.
There are lots of treatments and there are lots of positive stories on here if you do a search.
I hope this has help and you get a clear result.
Best wishes to you
Chris

Hi Wizard,
Please push and keep on to them as it took months for me to find out. Be the itch they have to get rid of. Look after yourself and let me know how you get on hun.

Dear Wizardpoo - I had aspiration done for pleural effusion when I had outpatient appointment with the respiratory consultant and had appointment exactly 2 weeks later with him for results. I did have CT scan in the middle week so possibly that was why appointment was 2 weeks later. If you were under a consultant at the hospital, why not phone the secretary and see what is happening. When it’s something as important as this, they shouldn’t keep people waiting. Keep on at them!
